Final art project

For this art piece I used symbolism. I used eight symbols. Books are my education, my bracket is for my protection, the mirrors are insecurity, the Mexican flag represents my home, my tears are my emotions, the flowers represent beauty, music is my inspiration, the soccer ball is my passion. I decided to do these things because it's what I do or somehow use everyday. These eight symbols represent me and they will always be a part of me no matter what. I have myself in there too because it's me and these things make me who I am today whether it is for the good or for the bad in life. I made it look like a room because the room is like my soul it's where I take everything in. I made it black and white because I feel like everything I have to express is in there and I don't need color to make it look more beautiful. There is so much feeling I put into this artwork that I can see myself and those ngs actually being in my life. I chose each symbolism very percisley because I wanted it to be perfect but not as perfect as it could be because everyone has mistakes in their life.

Pop art

Pop art is art based on modern popular culture. My project is a modern twist on pop art because it's the foods that are consumed in this century by humans. What I made was four different types of foods that are being eaten almost everyday by humans on the top left I have a Starbucks coffee because a lot of people drink Starbucks everyday, on the top right side I have a Monsters energy drink brcause even tough it's bad for you it gives you energy and they prefer to drink energy drink instead of coffee, on the bottom left I have a tamale because tamales are good, and last on the bottom right corner I have a takis because I see everybody eating takis. I put the world in the middle because it is the food of the century that is in the world.
During this pop art concept my successes were to have a good idea and to recognize what pop art is and when it began to also to come up with my and my challenges were what to pick to put in each corner and what colrs to use. The colors I used for the background are based on what colors make the actual food pop. At the end I kind of made the colors work and not completely color the world blue because the food that we are eating now is not healthy for us.
Something I would do differently is pick better foods and change the colors that I picked. Something I would also do differently is maybe change the whole idea of pop art and make it a little bit more interesting and make it look more realistic than what it already looks like.
Peer Critique:
Angie Puppo- Something's I really liked about your artwork were your choice in products you had well thought out products that could connect to modern day society, something I think you could improve on was your color combination in the squares if you had used brighter more nopeon colors to make it more modern.

Le'loni : I love the use of pop art in your piece because it has four of the most popular things in today's world in our generation I relly love the use of your colors in how they help each other pop out to the eye.

Jonathan: I like the way she did the colors of the food. When she did the monster drink, she did the the color green because that's the color. She did the takis background red because the takis are red. It brings out the art piece with the forefront colors she used.Good Job

Color wheel

I created a color wheel that emphasizes different sizes of circles and colors. The research I did was I looked up different ideas on how to make my color wheel more creative. The steps I went through to create my color wheel where to research designs or ideas. Next I started with the primary colors (red, blue, yellow) and colored them in a peace sign way. After that I started my secondary colors (green, orange, violet) and did another peace sign on the color wheel. Then, I continued with my tertiary colors (red-orange, red-violet, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, blue-violet). I added shades and tints to each color. This project is theory based because you follow the same steps when creating a color wheel. One thing I would change about the project is to make it more artistic maybe create something with the colors. One thing I liked about the project is how you could think outside the box and create anything by still following the steps into creating a color wheel.

Peer critiquing
Val- I love the details you incorporated in the color wheel! It's simple, yet intricate in every aspect!

Angie- I love the way you used little details like the way you painted all the little circles inside of your bigger one.
Cesar- I like the use of space and the artistic choices made to balance the piece.

Intention

I am thankful for everything and everyone that surrounds me. Every little thing that goes around me. I am thankful for every person who has never left my side and has been there to keep me strong. I am thankful for every medicine out there because with out it people would die sooner. Every little thing that seems like it doesn't matter is important and I am thankful for that. I am thankful for every little mistake I've made in the past because it has taught me to not make the same mistake again. I am thankful for being able to have an education, having the opportunity to learn something new everyday. I am thankful for the stories my dad tells me about the family. I am thankful for my life because not everybody has the chance to live a long life.
My intentions for the time between now and winter break are to be a better person. To be more understanding, helpful, smart, and stronger then ever. I want for someone to say I'm proud of you for doing something. Or to someone say thank you for everything you have done for me. My intentions are to be more freely about myself and who I want to be not who I'm supposed to be. Finding what life is really about. Everyone has a mission in this world and I want to take the step into figuring out what mine is. My intentions for the time between now and winter break is to be myself and not have to change around anyone else.

Scary story artist statement

She was only 23, when her kids faced misfortune in a horrible accident by the hand of a red heated devil thirsty for blood. A few days later she decided life had no more ring to it and committed suicide. On the other side she found her dead husband whom she had murdered years back for the fortune. He burned in the flames of hell and became the devil that murdered her kids. She was cursed by him as revenge for what she had done over six years ago. She was stuck in a frame where she was destined to view families that lived a happy life. But every night at exactly 2:00am she goes looking for her children which she will never find. During this time she takes any kids she can find to break the unbearable curse.

She's everywhere. No one can hide. No kid is safe. She's coming for you and screaming
" AHY MIS HIJOS " "ahhhhhhahahhhahahhhhh!!!!".

Graffiti poster

If I could improve upon the piece I would make it more neat and make the colors stand out more. There is a pattern around the mouth. I wonder if I put more things in the piece i would make it more emphasized. I like the eyes in the piece because it outstands more.

Feedback:

Cesar Gonzalez
Jenny I really like how you used emphasis on the tear drop. The way this piece of art is set up makes me think that you used space subconsciously.

Bairon Sanchez:I really like the design close to the eyes and I think that you should add more things.

Sean: I think more color would definitely be better.

Corbin:yes more color and detail would be better.

Sandra- I like the line you used, I think some more value would improve it.

Jamie:I like the speak up it sends a positive message I think some value would look good.

Aryonna- I really like the eyes with the tear drop. I also like the way your piece does not follow one theme it makes it stand out way more.
